Allah does not disdain to use similitude of things, lowest as well as highest. Those who believe know that it is truth from their Lord; but those who reject Faith say: ”What does Allah mean by this similitude?” By it He causes many to stray, and many He leads into the right path; but He does not cause to stray, except those who forsake (the path), –
But give glad tidings to those who believe and work righteousness, that their portion is Gardens, beneath which rivers flow. Every time they are fed with fruits therefrom, they say: ”Why, this is what we were fed with before,” for they are given things in similitudes; and they have therein pure (and holy) companions; and they abide therein (for ever).
O Messenger! let not those grieve thee, who race each other into unbelief: (whether it be) among those who say “We believe” with their lips but whose hearts have no faith; or it be among the Jews- men who will listen to any lie -will listen even to others who have never so much as come to thee. They change the words from their (right) times and places: they say, “If ye are given this, take it, but if not, beware!” If any one’s trial is intended by Allah, thou hast no authority in the least for him against Allah. For such – it is not Allah’s will to purify their hearts. For them there is disgrace in this world, and in the Hereafter a heavy punishment.
O you who believe! call in remembrance the favor of Allah to you when certain men formed the design to stretch out their hands against you, but (Allah) held back their hands from you: so fear Allah. And on Allah let Believers put (all) their trust.
O you who believe! stand out firmly for Allah, as witnesses to fair dealing, and let not the hatred of others to you make you swerve to wrong and depart from justice. Be just: that is next to Piety: and fear Allah. For Allah is well-acquainted with all that you do.
